WHERE THE WALK BEGAN
CAMINANTE means the WALK.
In the highlands of Jalisco, where mineral-rich red soil and high altitude sun shape some of the most expressive agaves in the world, the story of Caminante begins.
For generations, the López Camarena family has been connected to this land and to the craft of tequila. In the fields surrounding Jesús María, Los Altos, agave cultivation and distillation became part of our family heritage long before the brand itself existed.
In 1980, my father took that heritage and gave it a name: Caminante.
His vision was simple a tequila that honored the true character of highland agave and the traditional methods that had defined our family’s craft for generations. Caminante was created as a tequila meant to be shared, poured, and enjoyed with authenticity.
When my father passed away, the brand fell silent. Production stopped, and the name slowly disappeared from the market. But the knowledge, the recipe, and the connection to the land remained exactly where he left them.
Years later, I returned to the same red soil of Los Altos to continue what he started.
Caminante was not created to reinvent our family’s story, but to carry it forward.
Today, every bottle of Caminante is produced with the same commitment to authenticity, honoring the land, the agave, and the tradition that shaped our family’s journey in tequila.
Because Caminante is more than the name of a spirit. It is a reminder that every path is built step by step.
My father began the walk in 1980. Today, I carry it forward.
